He is my best friend - one of the most unique souls I have met. We first bonded over a mutual love of Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction - this was in high school). No wait, we first met at a screening of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie at the El Capitan Theatre. He introduced me to New Wave and comic books, and continues to teach me about music and film while I amuse him with my goofiness and drawings I suppose. And the rest, as they say, is history.

floating

August 16, 2008

I read Blankets by Craig Thompson a month ago and was utterly touched and inspired. I started drawing a small comic story to tell him how his work impacted me. This is a photo of one full panel.

Note the computer paper cut & paste work (I messed up, big time).

deserted

May 22, 2007.

Inspired by the comic The Walking Dead. I'm intrigued by notions of the apocalypse, what would happen to the earth and its inhabitants, how once-busy cities and highways would then stand, deserted and still. And most of all I am forever curious about what the driving force behind such devastation would ultimately turn out to be.

being instead of seeming (mission statement)

Art for me always has, and always will be my first love. We've grown apart, and I've treated her like crap, but we're slowly getting reacquainted.

I told myself I'd keep it at one blog, and with inbetweenthoughts and destroywhatboresyou, two blogs is more than plenty of blog space. But I started this one to keep me focused on my creative output.

I'm going to start with a select few, past projects before I build momentum and have current material I am confident enough to post. Let's see how this plays out.
